Setting up a connection

Establishing a connection between your applications, such as Jira and ServiceNow or Azure DevOps and Asana, is a straightforward process with Getint. Here's how you can set it up.

User Account Requirements:

  • You'll need a user account in both of the systems you wish to integrate.

  • We recommend using a dedicated Service Account with admin permissions. This provides the greatest flexibility and ensures that Getint can perform a comprehensive range of actions.

  • While admin access is advantageous, it’s not mandatory. The key requirement is that the user account should have the necessary permissions to create and update specific projects, types, and fields within the applications.

Role of the Service Account:

  • Getint will operate under this Service Account to perform various actions. These include creating and updating tasks, issues, incidents, etc.

  • Comments added by Getint will be posted using this account, with a clear note in the comment's footer indicating the original author. This maintains transparency and context in communication.

Providing Connection Details:

To initiate the connection, you'll need to provide specific details:

  • URL of the Instance: The web address where your application (Jira, ServiceNow, etc.) is hosted.

  • Username: The username of the Service Account in the application.

  • Password/Token: Depending on the application you are connecting with, you will need to provide either a password or an API token.

This setup process ensures that Getint can securely and effectively interact with your chosen applications, acting as a bridge to synchronize and manage data between them. With the right permissions in place, Getint becomes an extension of your team, handling integration tasks efficiently and unobtrusively.
